Life is like watching television - Ven. Master Chin Kung
The external environment is all illusory, just like watching television. One needs wisdom; the external environment is like the hue inside the television, not real. What is real? The screen is real; it never changes. The images inside are momentary, subject to birth and extinction, just like the vibrations of one-six hundred trillionth of a second we speak of. Therefore, watching television can lead to enlightenment, can lead to Buddhahood; those who cannot see through it become lost in it, creating karma. When the mind follows the external circumstances and the images on the television, it is a pitiable matter. Those who can see clearly, who are not swayed by it, who do not revolve around it, possess wisdom; this is the Buddha and Bodhisattva. Within the Mahayana, the principle of being unobstructed in all matters, unobstructed in reasoning, is expounded. As long as one is not swayed by circumstances, it is an unobstructed Dharma realm. Not being swayed by external circumstances, everything lies within oneself, unrelated to others.
